LR & RR Day, Military Technical Museum, Lesany, Czech Republic
21st September 2013 was the long-expected date of a new-born event among the ranks of the Land-Rover Series Club Czech Republic – the 1st LR & RR Day at the Military Technical Museum Lesany.
The event, organized in cooperation with the museum, was scheduled to include two parts – the first was the static display of the participating club members’ vehicles, lined-up in front of the museum’s display halls, which took place from 9:30 AM and continued until lunch. The central location of our display deservedly attracted numerous visitors, even if their numbers were thinned down by the morning’s uninviting weather.
The second part of the event consisted of a dynamic display of the club’s vehicles in the Lesany arena, regularly churned up during the museum’s legendary Tank Days. At first glance the arena did not look too intimidating and eight participants from our ranks soon circled the arena’s muddy grounds.
This part of the event was preceded (and complemented) by a special display courtesy of the Czech Army – a Land Rover 130 Kajman (Caiman) from the ranks of the army’s 43rd Paratroopers Regiment stationed at Chrudim, Czech Republic, was displayed together with the most up-to-date pieces of weaponry and equipment used on foreign missions. The vehicle and its crew later splashed through the arena as well.
The event was ended with washing down the muddy souvenirs from the arena by Land Rovers young and old and gradually, the long column of vehicles took off for their homes.
